In going through some mate­r­i­al I’ve gath­ered, I found this quote from the founder of Team Amer­i­ca PAC, a Kobach funder:

In Illi­nois, Con­gress­man Tom Tan­cre­do (R‑Colo.) recent­ly cam­paigned with a Sen­ate can­di­date, say­ing that ille­gal immi­grants “are com­ing here to kill you and to kill me and our families.”

The absur­di­ty of this is clear. This idea is inex­tri­ca­bly linked to the notion that Mex­i­cans are com­ing for the “Recon­quista” of lands lost to Amer­i­ca over 100 years ago. The SPLC puts it in con­text in the arti­cle linked above.
