Time Reporter Says He Learned Agen­t’s Iden­ti­ty From Rove:

While Today was explain­ing that the Pres­i­dent nom­i­nat­ed Atti­la the Hun, GMA was reveal­ing that Karl Rove is either prac­tic­ing his perp walk smile or he’s cut a deal.

And then we come back to a ques­tion that has­n’t been clear­ly addressed. Why should any­one as close to the Pres­i­dent as Karl Rove is be afraid of get­ting con­vict­ed? If his­to­ry teach­es us noth­ing, these scan­dals lead to par­dons. And if any­one in Bush II’s admin­is­tra­tion is in a place to call in a favor, it’s Karl Rove.

So why should he cut a deal? Why should he talk about any­thing? Pre­sum­ably, that’s why Lib­by told his lies to the grand jury. We know Rove talked to Fitzger­ald in the last day before indict­ments hit, and that seemed to buy him some breath­ing room. We don’t know what he said, but we do know that he gave some­thing new, and that’s what kept him off of TV screens last Friday.
