, live in a fun­gal sub­strate and secrete human insulin. I take it that the Pres­i­dent isn’t plan­ning to put every Type I Dia­bet­ic in Amer­i­ca into hypo­glycemic shock. I don’t think it would be a pop­u­lar pol­i­cy plank.

And there’s a lot of opti­mism that embry­on­ic stem cell research might hold a cure or treat­ment for dia­betes. Too bad the Pres­i­dent for­bade Amer­i­can researchers from doing any­thing use­ful in that field. Sen­a­tor Brown­back has­n’t been help­ing, either.
